Reality
There was smoke and chaos all around him and it was hard to focus. What happened? He asked himself as the screams were practically inside his mind. The ringing in his ears became apparent soon after his eyes had flickered open. “Juliette!” he yelled across the sea of people. No this is all wrong he though today was supposed to be happy I was going to propose after she finished the 2013 Boston Marathon. It had always been a passion of hers to run and I loved her for it. I loved her for a lot of things.
He rubbed his eyes frantically searching for her then he saw her on the ground with a paramedic hovering over her. No! It can’t be! He rushed through the people crying to find her lying lifelessly on the ground covered in blood. The paramedic was doing everything he could but he knew the outcome. He gently scoped up her head and pressed it against her own, like he had a thousand times before when she was scared or nervous. But, this time it was him who was scared, him who was concerned. He wasn’t paying attention to his surroundings, but there was a simple foldable chair lying on the ground next to his left foot. It was the average American chair with the common red, white, and blue flag painted on it. But, this particular chair was streaked with blood, it was like Boston at the time all patriotic but there was loss, and tragedy everywhere. There were so many basic items like this one amidst the newly crimson decorated ground. A lime green lunch box, and a pink hat are among these items representing every ones normal life, and normal day they wanted just being stepped all over by reality. This isn’t fair Daniel thought to himself, he had lived a good life tried to steer himself down the right paths and for what? His life to end up like this clutching the love of his lives body to his own.
He tried to wake himself up hoping, longing for this all to be a nightmare but deep down he knew it was not. From this day forward Daniel gained a new outlook on life and left his naïve self dead next to Sarah, no more he told himself. No more feelings no more hopeless thoughts just moving forward and starting each day just like the rest negative and dull.
